Biography

The world we live in is challenging, and our attention is pulled in so many different directions that it is easy to lose touch with our own inner guidance and wisdom. We can find ourselves overwhelmed, distracted, exhausted, and disconnected from what brings us a sense of stability, purpose, and contentment in our lives. I have learned that there is no one “right” way for everyone—the journey and process is where the magic is. As a therapist, it is my desire to help you reconnect, discover, and explore what is truly meaningful for you, what brings you the most peace and ease, and to make authentic changes, so that you can navigate the challenges and joys of your life with awareness, courage, and a strong sense of self.

I am a Texas native; I grew up in west Texas and have been in the DFW area for over 20 years. I live with my partner, Justin, in Denton, and I am a devoted pet mom to two wonderful rescue dogs and a cat. I am an avid yoga practitioner, and as the daughter of a physical therapist, I know how much caring for your body goes hand in hand with mental well-being. My mother taught me that when you do not know what else to do, start with a big glass of water, a big bath, and a good healthy meal. I love to get out in nature as much as possible, whether through my attempts at gardening, watching the birds and bunnies in my backyard, hiking, kayaking, or just walking the dogs around my neighborhood. I am a voracious reader of all kinds of books, and I have a love for documentaries, mysteries, and true crime series. I have been described most often as warm with a keen sense of humor, and I think laughter is absolutely some of the best medicine there is.

Professional Experience

Professionally, I have been gifted with many opportunities to utilize my passion for helping people. In addition to being a therapist, I have worked as an academic advisor at the university level, a life and recovery coach, an inpatient counselor of individuals and groups, and a yoga instructor. I specialize in recovery in the broadest sense: recovery from grief and loss, substance use disorders (gray area drinking is a particular strength of mine), divorce, illness, career change, relationships and codependency, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Although you and your circumstances are unique, I believe the process of recovery, of returning to yourself, is essentially similar no matter what you are struggling with, and we are all recovering from something. I work with adults, and I am focused on women and women’s issues throughout our lives, and each chapter presents its own challenges, lessons, and beauty. I am humbled by how much I have learned from each of my clients, and it would be my privilege to walk in your journey with you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me, and we can set up a consultation
