Gladys J. Sanchez, LPC- Supervisor

Biography

I am a therapist who is often described as ‘a calm presence’. As we know womanhood and motherhood have very few moments of calmness. It is an ebb and flow, journeys full of transitions and seasons of adjustments. Navigating womanhood and motherhood have taught me that learning about yourself and discovering your purpose is a journey, not a destination. I am mother of two sweet girls, a wife, a sister, a cousin, a friend, a daughter. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned through experience is that we were not meant to do this alone. My hope for you, is that Guiding Lantern is that community, that village; lighting your path, your journey.

I am a fluent Spanish speaker who grew up on the Texas-Mexico border and spent my childhood years as migrant. Growing up with a Spanish speaking-only mother I very early on saw that a mother’s drive has no limit. After loss and grief came into our home, I also very early on saw the vulnerabilities of motherhood, and that there are some battles no one can fight but you. However, there will be people in your corner to remind you of your purpose and who will wait for you to get back on your feet.
Specializing in womanhood and motherhood means I help women in discovering their purpose, healing from past wounds, grieving the loss of child or pregnancy, overcoming a difficult breakup, finding their self-worth, becoming the wife they envision, parenting, marital difficulties, adjusting to motherhood, healing from toxic parents, and more.

Professional Experience

I am blessed to be able to follow my passion, the sacred art of helping. For over 13 years, as a bilingual Mental Health Executive and Practitioner, I have been able to advance and advocate for mental health accessibility.

I am proud of the support and treatment I have provided to underserved and marginalized communities. I, as much as them, gained so much knowledge and experience. I hold extensive experience in substance abuse, trauma, relationships, depression, anxiety, marriage and family with adolescents and adult women and men. In the past few years, I have specialized in womanhood and motherhood.

Through multiple roles, I have provided effective clinical supervision and consultation that better the clinical skills of therapists across multiple states and licensing. Moreover, through the lenses of trauma-informed care and a person-centered approach, I have authored intake and assessment forms that alleviate the client's stress while still gathering critical information and building therapeutic rapport.

As an executive, I hold strong experience in business formation and management in solo- and group-practice settings, the knowledge that I want to share and love to see influence the success of another fellow therapist.
